Three hours ago a substantial 'aftershock' (magnitude 7.1) hit Fukushima prefecture, and continues to reverberate here in Ibaraki prefecture. I have to admit, it was scary enough that I left the building. Through my first floor window. I feel sort of silly about it now, but standing outside, and feeling the ground shaking as it did, instills a reverence and awe.
It is still shaky, but at two full points below the big one, the energy released (if I understand the Wikipedia article on seismic measurement accurately), is about one one-thousandth as much. I guess I can sleep with that.
